Rupesh kumar, the documentary filmmaker was born as the elder son of Karunakaran and Chandrika in Kannur district of Kerala. He started his documentary activism against caste system in 2008 with his first video "Underworld Memories of Untouchables". The video was selected for fellowship for the upcoming film directors in the VIBGYOR international short film festivals. After this, he has directed the documentaries; "Love stories in Black Letters", "By the side of a river" and "Sabitha: A woman and a day". Later he worked with student productions like the documentary "Twinkle Twinkle Little caste" and short film "Blackboard". He has also directed the short film "Crime and Punishment" and produced documentaries; "All Indians Are.." and "3D Stereo Caste". All of his documentaries are produced under the banner "Budhaneversleeps". He is now living with his partner Remya Vallathol and daughter Sanghamithra Rithu.
